My Focus:

ENGAGED COMMUNITIES:  Building a welcoming interrelationship between the public and council. You want to be heard, respected, and allowed to engage productively in partnership with our Township. Communication that is regular and proactively sent and readily available to you. Modernization of processes and services to make it easy for you!

MINDFUL DEVELOPMENT: Development pressures impact the rural nature of our communities. Conscious development with a focus on the protection of our environment, retention of our natural beauty and continued enjoyment of active lifestyles. Proactive long-term planning; Infrastructure, water and wastewater, internet capabilities, roads, and environmental impact.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Resource allocation through a comprehensive planning process. Alignment of operational and capital planning with strategic priorities. Promotion of a sound fiscal climate, internal controls and responsible resource stewardship.

COMMUNITY SAFETY: Road Speed, sidewalks, road construction, school and recreation centre requires careful review and planning. Strengthening expectation of Township By-law enforcement and Provincial policing.

Volunteerism and Affiliations

I enjoy giving back to my community and have held many volunteer experiences.  Most recently, I was the President of the Horseshoe Valley Property Owners Association.  I have also sat on the board of the Cognashene Cottagers Association as Communications Director.  My husband and I are members of the Cognashene Community Church.  Over the past year, I have worked closely with our Township Parks and Fire Departments and spearheaded a successful campaign to place an AED in the 4th Line Park. Youth homelessness has been a focus of mine for many years. I have participated in the Sleep Out for Homeless to support Covenant House and have been involved in many fundraising events for Homeless Youth.

In my professional career, I was involved in the TD. Women in Leadership Initiative. This ongoing and exciting program helps identify and develop future female leaders within the organization.  I was chair of the TD Pacific United Way Giving Campaign and was deeply involved with TD’s Diversity and Inclusion program, specifically focusing on LGBTQ awareness.

Testimonials

“During the 30+ years that I have known Lori, she has helped me navigate my own personal journey, and the related challenges, including a seismic change from geophysicist to physician.  For each issue, Lori has provided me with tactful, candid and honest answers.  Lori has always cared very deeply for her family, community and her colleagues.  I consider myself fortunate to call her friend and mentor.

“Every community needs strong hardworking leaders.   Know Lori to be just that. She’s intelligent, honest, thoughtful, persuasive, creative, courageous, principled and tough as she needs to be when required.  Lori is that person you hear speak for the first time and you pause and ask “who is that?”  I still remember that time.

“Over my many years in politics, a councillor, an MPP, a Minister, and 50 years involved with government, I have come to spot really good representatives.  Lori Hutcheson is one.  As soon as I learned she represented a huge community group I knew she had a calling to even greater office where her talents could be seen even wider.  I have no hestitation in endorsing Lori as a new Councillor to the Oro-Medonte Council.  How fortunate someone of her abilities offers themselves.
